It was the feast day of our patron St Stanislaus

Before it ends here in Mumbai

A Happy Feast to all

Twenty Delegates of JAAI will be attending the seventh World Congress of Jesuit Alumni at Bujumbura, Burundi, Africa.

Along with me we have Fr Durai and Mr Krisnakumar Vijh of Ahmedabad from the West Zone. The rest are from other regions of India.

We look forward to a new experience of work being carried out by alumni in this critical area of the world and the possibilities of collaboration at a global level.

On our return, I would be happy to share my experience with all of you, particularly if possible at our AGM scheduled for Aug 9

Conrad Gonsalves

Meeting of Fr General, Very Rev Fr Adolfo Nicolas with the JAAI Governing Council and Delhi Alumni at St Xavier’s, Delhi on February 21, 2008.

At the meeting of representatives of JAAI and Alumni of Delhi, the JAAI secretary introduced the participants after which Conrad Gonsalves made a short presentation giving an overview of JAAI, its inception and growth. Ronnie D’Costa spoke about activities in the Central zone with emphasis on the national project of Water. He also described the matching finance scheme for small projects. Siddharth Dudhoria spoke the Alumni Exchange programme. The President of JAAI, Dr Santosh Rollands invited Fr General to share his long term vision for alumni. This is an abridged version of Fr General’s spontaneous response. The Secretary of Doxa raised the Vote of Thanks.

Address of Fr General

It is becoming  clear to us, even in Rome, that as the world becomes more intercommunicative and we become aware of the problems outside our own regions, we realize how limited our own initiatives are.  We Jesuits are growing more conscious that many of the things we would like to do, can be done only If we work with a larger community and we realize that the Alumni of our institutes are a natural extension.  Alumni  strengths are their high motivation, professional expertise and the fact of their being widely spread across different countries.

Fr General in his meeting with the Governing Council of the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India, has invited suggestions on what the Jesuits should consider with respect to initiatives concerning alumni in the future. These would be presented to the 2008 General Congregation of the Jesuit order.

Could we begin this exercise right away?

Council Member, World Union of Jesuit Alumni

Members of the Governing Council of JAAI the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India met with Fr General in a private audience on November 9 2006 at the Pedru Arupa Centre, Goa.

Colin Coelho, Devyani Nawab, Siddarth Dudhoria, Dr Santhosh Rollands, Ronnie D'Costa and Conrad Gonsalves spent thirty minutes presenting the programmes that Alumni Associations in India have undertaken and explaining the thrust in water related projects that are part of the National project. Fr Kolvenbach received these reports and invited suggestions on what the Jesuits should consider regarding Alumni that could be presented for consideration at the General Congregation scheduled for 2008. The Goan Press covered the event extensively. The evening of November 9th was spent with Fr General at Loyola's at Margao where he invited all alumni to be agents for social change. I have put up a few pictures of the event someplace elso on this portal Conrad Gonsalves Council Member, World Union of Jesuit Alumni
