As India grows on the world stage and as globalisation and social technologies make the world a smaller place, the need for community action has never been greater nor more relevant. The relentless pace of development in our society drives and is driven by people seizing the opportunity to improve their lives and those of their loved ones. However, in this fast-paced environment there are number of  challenges that need to be addressed and overcome, most of these are too complex to be lifted by individuals acting alone. Acting together, these challenges can also represent opportunities for establishing social enterprises.

The theme of the 2012 West Zone Congress in Mumbai is about collaboration. About social engagement. About entrepreneurship. The focus for the congress is about acting and doing. At the congress, we will share examples of success in the different alumni communities and discuss and plan on replicating some or all of these successes across the region. In presenting our successes we learn from them and we celebrate our efforts - and collaborate to magnify the impact these initiatives. We as individuals and as communities gain from sharing this knowledge - and ultimately the people of our respective provinces and region.

Background

The SSESA Lonavla picnic will be conducted on 1-3 June 2012. The picnic is open to all Stanislites and their families so please block these dates. Bookings open in April 2012. Dates will be announced later.

Celebrating 150 years of St. Stanislaus High School: Bond of Boys 2013 will be held on 5th January 2013 and kicks off year long celebrations at St. Stanislaus High School.

On the occasion of our Sesquicentenary a logo competition was conducted by SSESA amongst the boys of our school. Ninty-five entries were received and the logo created by Master Prajwal Bhagat of 6D was choses as the sesquicentenary logo.

At the seventh WUJA Congress held in Bujumbura, Burundi in 2009, the Colombian Federation of Alumni/ae Associations (ASIA Colombia) was selected to host the next world Congress in the year 2013.

Date and Place of the Congress-

The Congress will be held in the campus of the San Ignacio School in Medellin. Please enter: www.sanignacio.edu.co On Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 the Pre-congress for the youth will be held. The Congress will be from August 14 to 18.

Theme of the Congress-

Ignatian Leadership with Social Responsibility. “We were educated, let’s educate”.

We believe that in this theme we involve Social Responsibility, one topic of actual discussion in the world, with the Leadership of our Alumni/ae that comes from the education received with the Jesuits following the Ignatian spirit. 

Congress Design-

We are planning to organize the seventh WUJA Congress in a similar way as previous Congresses. We will have four or five major presentations by internationally renowned speakers and then group discussions to come at the end with resolutions that comes from the active participation of the Alumni/ae.

We expect Father General to be the first speaker. We are in the process of inviting him to attend at the beginning of the Congress.

We need the input from the WUJA Council members to offer names of candidates to be speakers at the Congress. We would appreciate your contribution.
